A new certification label for a new category of PC

The new generation of PC is a name given by Microsoft to its ultraportable laptops. In order to have that name, the laptops have to carry specific equipment and functions.

The operating system should be Windows in order to run Windows Ink and Windows Hello.  On the performance side, the processor has to be at least an Intel 8th gen and the laptop should carry an SSD in order to comply with the weight, size and speed regulations set by Microsoft. The RAM should at least be 4GB, and the working autonomy at least 8 hours in order to be used regularly without having to charge it.

On the design side, the laptop should be light and thin. That means that it should not be more than 2 KG and should not be thicker than 2cm when it is closed.

Which model to choose?

The Lenovo Ideapad S145

The Chinese brand Lenovo is offering a new generation PC for less than €400. This lower price is not impacting its performances. With a 128 GB SSD and an Intel Pentium process this laptop will meet your basic needs such as internet for example. Simple photo editing is possible with its 14” display that is nice to work on. Carrying this laptop is an easy task due to its 1,6 KG. It carries two USB 3.0 ports, and 1 USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a SD slot. To sum up, it is an efficient laptop.

The Acer Swift 3

It is equipped with an Intel Core i5 with 4 cores, the laptop carries 256 SSD, this laptop is offering a multipurpose setup. Its 8 GB of RAM will allow you to use its performance to the fullest. On top of that, the Acer Swift 3 has a fingerprint reader, a 14 inches borderless screen, the 5th gen of Bluetooth. With a battery that can last for 12 hours and a weight of 1,45 KG, it carries all the features of a top of that range product beside the price: € 849. It has one of the best value for money.

The HP Envy X360 Convertible

This PC from HP is way more expensive than the PC mentioned before, to buy this one you need to be ready to spend €1 599. This PC has a Intel Core i7 with 4 cores, 8 GB of RAM and 512 SSD. These features are two times more than what the competitors are offering.

But this is not the biggest difference, it comes from its hinge. Thanks to this hinge the HP Envy X360 Convertible is able to rotate at 360° and can have multiple usage: a laptop and tablet at the same time. Important note, its 15,6 inches touch screen will give another dimension to your project (Photo editing, video, graphic design, etc…). It is a laptop that is in advance on its time.
